THE SHAZA-MOMBASA

While researching online for a resort to visit in October 2016,i stumbled upon a Facebook post by a friend  that really caught my attention. She had just come from the coast with her hubby and I immediately slid into her inbox to enquire about the prestigious resort.

That is how I discovered 'The Shaza' located in Shanzu Mombasa. It was the most magical place I had seen in a while and the only destination I wanted to visit after having worked so hard the whole year. After a lot of research and planning I finally had the privilege to visit this luxurious resort.

Exotic decor

Built in an expansive  4 acres of land ,the boutique apartment style beach hotel boasts of a rich Arabic Swahili architecture. The building's design just like many in the coastal region ,is believed to have been influenced by the Persians and Arabs culture, while they came to the Kenyan coast for trade during the pre-colonial times.

Large columns and floral patterns at the lobby of the resort give you a calming welcome as you make your way to the reception. There are Executive suites, Penthouses, and 2 bedroom suites to choose from and they all come carefully decorated with exotic ornaments. There is a wide range of cuisines for both Muslim and Christians to chose from. There are two big outdoor swimming pools for rest and relaxation, with a pool bar for those who want to indulge.

Clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean are visible from the balcony of your room. The 2 bed room suite that I stayed in came carefully decorated with a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances  where one could prepare their own meals.
Breakfast by the sea

The other facilities include glass boat rides and visiting near by beaches e.g. coco cabana beach for a taste of their authentic Sea food. You could also visit the famous Fort Jesus or have a taste of Mombasa street food at Mama Ngina drive.

In my opinion,The Shaza should definitely be in your next dream destination list!

Till next time ,
