The name 'Kajiado' is derived from the word olekeju-ado meaning 'long river' in Maasai language. It is located 80km south of Nairobi along Nairobi-Namanga road. The local people are predominantly of the Maasai tribe, who are known for their rich, distinctive and authentic culture.
Located on top of a hill at Kumpa town,15 kilometres from Kajiado town, is Lerruat Log resort. The area is generally arid with all the dry grass covered by remnants of soda ash which is mined in the area. The 30 minute journey uphill is quite hectic and a 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended while visiting this resort.
As the name suggests the resort is made mainly of logs or wood if you like. Scenic views from a diverse topography ranging from hills and valleys to expansive plains will connect you with nature as you relax on their terrace lounge located at the edge of a cliff where you could also enjoy cold beverages both alcoholic and non alcoholic.
There log cabins are spacious and comfortable, while their rich menu offers a wide range of meals especially from different cuts of meat. A complementary breakfast is offered buffet style for those who spend the night at the resort

When you think of peace and tranquillity, think Lerruat Log Resort. There is currently a Madaraka day offer for 1st to 3rd June 2018,for Ksh.17,500 for 2 people staying 2 nights on the lodge on full board basis.
